Probabilistic Modeling in Genomics 2024

April 10-12, 2024

ProbGen 24 will be held in Vienna April 10-12, 2024.

The general structure will be much as in previous years (see webseite: https://www.oeaw.ac.at/gmi/news-events/events/probabilistic-modeling-in-genomics-2024), with a focus on modeling to make sense of genomic data, and non-concurrent sessions organized from submitted abstracts coupled with poster sessions. Topics will range from phylogenetics and population genetics to systems biology and cancer genetics. There will be plenty of time for discussion.

Keynote speakers:

Andrew Clark, Cornell University
Mercedes Pascual, New York University
Shamil Sunyaev, Harvard Medical School

We aim to keep the meeting affordable and convenient. To this end, it will use the facilities of the Vienna BioCenter and also take advantage of Vienna’s excellent infrastructure and plentiful hotels. Vienna has good train connections, and we’re literally a 20 minute train ride from the airport, which has direct flights from most major airports, including in the US.

The meeting will start early afternoon on Wednesday the 10th so that people can arrive the same day, and then run through Friday, leaving the weekend free for sightseeing if desired (Vienna has 4 excellent symphony orchestras, a pile of museums, outstanding coffee houses, and is generally worth a visit).

Deadline for abstracts: Please register here.  Deadline for abstract submission is 15 February, 2024, and presentation space is limited so please register as soon as possible if you want to be assured of having a slot (oral presentations will be selected from abstracts, but poster space will be first-come, first-served). We particularly encourage abstract submissions from junior investigators, including postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. We are applying for funds to partially support the travel expenses of selected speakers who would otherwise not be able to attend. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Hope to see you in Vienna in Spring!

The organizing committee (Nick, Joachim, Carolin, and Magnus)
