Museum of Natural History Vienna

The Museum of Natural History Vienna (NHMW) was conceived and planned in the late 19th Century as a Museum of Evolution and ever since has been a scientific institution for evolutionary research. The biological departments with their scientific collections are specialised on research of Biodiversity and Organismic Biology.
The Laboratory of Molecular Systematics (MolSys) of the NHMW performs phylogenetic and phylogeographic projects on various groups of animals with an additional focus on conservation genetics and evolution of mitochondrial DNA.
