The Institute of Cancer Research is dedicated to elucidate the causes and characteristics of cancer and stimulate the development of more effective strategies for prevention and treatment. On the cellular level, mutation and selection processes are very active during cancerogenesis. Therefore, research at the ICR also covers studies of the molecular mechanisms of mutation formation and avoidance (e.g. in unicellular model organisms).
