The BFW (Bundesforschungszentrum für Wald) is a federal research and training institution for forests and natural hazards. It provides research and monitoring programmes on the multifunctional use, management and protection of forest ecosystems, biodiversity conservation, and protection against natural hazards and geo-risks. Research interests at the BFW include population genetics and provenance research of forest trees.
