Postdoc position, Department of Evolutionary Biology (Univ. of Vienna)

apply by 27 February 2022

The Wanninger Lab is hiring a Postdoc in Invertebrate EvoDevo or Invertebrate Morphology! We are a dynamic, international group situated in the recently built University of Vienna Biology Building (UBB) with brand new labs to perform top-notch molecular and morphological research. Additional infrastructure includes animal care facilities to maintain and rear aquatic and terrestrial animals as well as access to sequencing facilities, high-end computer clusters, and an imaging and electron microscopy core facility.

While mollusks have long played a central role in the research of our group, our approaches are highly comparative and cover a wide range of animals. The position is thus open to candidates with either malacological or non-malacological research interests. Candidates with experience in little-investigated, preferably aquatic, invertebrate taxa are particularly encouraged to apply. We seek an enthusiastic lab member that is willing to work rather independently.

The position is flexible to account for specific interests of the successful candidate. Projects will be developed together with the PI. The position is fully funded for 6 years.

Applications should include an updated CV, a list of publications, the contact details of three potential referees, and a concise letter of motivation (no more than 3 A4 pages) outlining major research interests and a summary of methodological and other relevant expertise.

The employment relationship is limited to 6 years. Extent of Employment: 40 hours/week

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
