IST Austria has launched a “Citizen Science Project”, inviting everyone above 14 to contribute to a collective diary to to study the collective behavioural changes of our society in response to the Corona crisis. The aim of this CoKoNet (Corona Kontakt Netzwerk) project is to collect high quality data to analyse the changes of our social interaction networks during the spread of the epidemic and beyond.
The data are collected by a recurrent online survey – the diary entries of all participants – and analysed – of course anonymously – as part of the graduate education of IST Austria. The results will be brought back to the public as part of the Science Communication and Education programme of IST Austria in school workshops and public talks. Moreover, each participant will receive his/her personal Corona Contact Network diary in forms of graphs!
We think this is the time to show the value of basic research to the public and how we can learn as a society from the current challenges by creating transparent data, analysing them with our high scientific standards and making them public again.
Please feel free to contribute to the survey yourself at cokonet.ist.ac.at and to distribute it to your peers, friends and family across all age classes!
